The Helsinki Chemicals Forum 2021 conference will be organized as a virtual event

The Helsinki Chemicals Forum 2021 conference will be organized as a virtual event instead of a physical one. The decision is due to the uncertainty caused by the pandemic situation and international travel restrictions, that greatly affect the possibility of international visitors to participate in the event. The Helsinki Chemicals Forum will take place on 27 and 28 April 2021 and registration for the event has started.

The Covid-19 pandemic situation that reached Europe at the beginning of last year has negatively affected the schedules of many conferences all over the world. Although news about vaccinations are promising, the pandemic continues to have a strong adverse impact on gathering and travel possibilities both in Finland and internationally for the at least the first half of this year.

For this reason, the Chemicals Forum Association and the Finnish Fair Corporation have after careful consideration decided to change the spring 2021 forum into a virtual event taking place on 27-28 April 2021. Other simultaneous events i.e. the international forest industry event PulPaper and chemical and bioindustry ChemBio Finland will also offer their programme content online. Virtual conferences are a great opportunity to expand the audience of the event, as it makes it easier for participants from all over the world to participate. We can utilize the experiences gathered this spring and further grow and internationalise the future HCF conferences, says Geert Dancet, Secretary General of the Helsinki Chemicals Forum.

As before, the programme of 2021 HCF is built around keynote introductory speeches and five discussion panels. In total 35 top class speakers from EU and third countries will take part. The five topics that are relevant to all practitioners of chemicals regulation are the forthcoming ICCM-5, green chemicals policy, transparency & risk communication, safer substitution and spotlight on textiles. UNEP, the European Commission, ECHA, OECD and Chemical Watch will moderate these panels.

The timing of the programme of the Forum has been modified to be more suitable for global participation. On each of the two days the conference is scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. (EET). The programme is available at www.helsinkicf.eu and registration can be made for 300 euro or less than half of the earlier fee.
