“You can finally eat well in Pasila” – Messukeskus’s new restaurant Platta is now open

Asemalaituri, aka “Platta”, has long been providing a venue for a wide variety of meetings. From now on, Platta will be the official restaurant of Messukeskus Helsinki and its event hotel, Holiday Inn Helsinki – Expo.

Platta will serve Messukeskus’s diverse clientele from morning to night, gradually transforming from a breakfast joint to a venue for business meetings and evening get-togethers.

Chef Markus Fogelholm will be in charge of the menu. He has previously worked at restaurants such as Regina, La Table, Olo, Savoy and Werner, and the Loop food waste restaurant’s kitchen in the former hospital district of Lapinlahti. Fogelholm will now be creating taste sensations for the Fazer Food Services team at Messukeskus. His cooking is based on respecting Fazer's high quality standards while also combating food waste.

“We’ll be serving artisan delicacies made in our own kitchen and inspired by the seasons, seasonal vegetables, and the Messukeskus programme. We’ll be keeping Platta’s charcoal grill hot and making all of our pizzas from scratch. Drinks will include microbrewery beers and coffee from Kaffa Roastery,” says Fogelholm.

Messukeskus wants to bring people together, and eating together is a great way to connect. Which is why Platta offers a popular sharing menu. And after your meal, you can continue with cocktails and specialty beers in Holiday Inn Helsinki – Expo’s stylish and completely refurbished lobby bar. The Holiday Inn concept combines the lobby areas and restaurant into a public space where guests can eat, drink, work, rest, and socialise in a relaxed atmosphere.

Platta can accommodate 300 guests and the hotel’s Open Lobby 200. And during the summer months, there’s room for even more guests on the pleasant outdoor terrace. Thanks to Messukeskus’s flexible space solutions, Platta can also be joined to other premises on the ground floor to form a large restaurant area with seating for about 1,000 guests.

Messukeskus Helsinki boasts a total of 21 different cafés and restaurants. Fazer Food Services is responsible for Messukeskus’s restaurant services, and is known for its strong tradition of craftsmanship, good service, and the best-known chocolate brand in the Nordic Countries.

Messukeskus Helsinki promotes Finnish trade and industry by enabling profitable face-to-face contacts at fairs, trade shows, congresses, and other events. Exhibitions and fairs are Finland’s seventh largest media. In terms of impact, they are the most profitable, the richest in experiences, and the most social of all media. Events attract over 9,000 exhibitors and 1.2 million visitors each year. The Finnish Fair Corporation (the company that owns Messukeskus) will be celebrating its centenary in 2019. www.messukeskus.com
