Messukeskus Helsinki prepares for a strong autumn, arrangements have progressed far

"YES for events organised responsibly", declares the digital display at the Messukeskus main entrance.

The Restart working group of the Confederation of Finnish Industries estimates that, in the best-case scenario, 80% of all Finns have been vaccinated by July. The assessment creates faith in the rapid recovery of the event industry in Finland and encourages Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre to continue preparations for a strong event autumn.

- Messukeskus is already looking towards the time when restrictions can be lifted. We will start the event season at full capacity as soon as it is possible regarding restrictions. Exhibitions are economic accelerators and opening them effectively supports the recovery of the entire business community from the economic crisis plagued by the Corona pandemic, says Anni Vepsäläinen, Managing Director at Messukeskus.

According to the scenario published by the Confederation of Finnish Industries on 10 February, 80% vaccine coverage would be possible already in July and according to even the most pessimistic scenario in September. The Confederation of the Finnish Industries encourages to immediately start planning both the lifting of restrictions as well as necessary support measures.

Messukeskus has been preparing for a safe and efficient event start for months. Client inquiries are replied to at an accelerating pace, as client feedback indicates that events are eagerly awaited. Exhibitions play a huge role in the recovery of the entire business community and have a major impact on income and employment within hotel and restaurant operations and other services. The survey published in spring 2019 showed that exhibitions bring organising regions an annual revenue stream of approximately half a billion euros.

Messukeskus, which is built for large public events, offers a smooth entrance with automatic gates, the possibility of electronic payment, plexiglass protected service points and contact free taps. Entrance routes and service points are equipped with hand sanitiser automats and safety distance markings. Additionally, face masks and other hygiene equipment are offered to those who need them. Efficient air conditioning and in some places up to 14 meters high hall areas improve safety conditions.

The comprehensive safety instructions for Messukeskus follow authority instructions closely.
