Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre participates in the Laptops for Ukraine campaign
Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre participates in the Laptops for Ukraine campaign coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior by donating a batch of computer monitors and other ICT equipment and supplies to the collection. The supplies will be delivered to the collection by Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre’s official logistics partner Niemi Palvelut.
The Laptops for Ukraine campaign collects usable ICT equipment and supplies to be delivered to the urgent need for equipment in Ukrainian schools, hospitals and municipalities. Equipment and supplies are transported from Finland to Ukraine through the European rescue service mechanism. In Finland, the Ministry of the Interior and the partnership network of rescue services are responsible for the campaign, with the support of the Confederation of Finnish Industries and Technology Industries of Finland.
”Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre is handing over 30 computer monitors in working order to the collection, and we have also collected other supplies as personal donations from our employees. Our logistics partner Niemi Palvelut takes care of the safe packaging and transportation of the equipment to the collection point,” says Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre’s CIO Mikko Levo.
”Every monitor, computer, phone and charger donated to the collection is important and helps Ukrainians in a difficult situation. The fact that we can responsibly recycle functional devices for a useful purpose also gives us a good feeling. I warmly thank our staff and Niemi Palvelut for their support in the collection,” says Anni Vepsäläinen, CEO of Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre.
Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre has supported Ukrainians since the beginning of the war in other ways also, e.g. by enabling emergency aid collections at their events, by giving tickets for public events to refugees for recreational use and by organizing a recruitment event for Ukrainian war refugees in the premises of the Centre.
The Laptops for Ukraine campaign period is from 17 April to 12 May 2023. The collected equipment and supplies end up being used by Ukrainian schoolchildren, teachers, nurses, civil servants and other people in need for help.
