Habitare to collaborate with the international Wild at Heart exhibition

Habitare, Finland’s leading furniture, design and interior decoration event, continues its internationalisation, as the event is to collaborate with the international Wild at Heart exhibition. Curated by Tero Kuitunen, the touring exhibition will be on display in Vienna, Budapest, Stockholm and Tokyo. Next autumn, the tour will culminate in an exhibition presented at Habitare, from 9 to 13 September 2020.

The Wild at Heart exhibition will first be shown in Austria as part of the Vienna Design Week. The practitioners featured in the exhibition, curated by Tero Kuitunen, represent various fields of design and art, and have an open-minded approach to working with new materials. The exhibition will bring together simplified material-based artistry, social impact, and wild playfulness. The designers featured are Antrei Hartikainen, Sofia Okkonen, Klaus Haapaniemi, Tero Kuitunen, Milla Vaahtera, Tuuli-Tytti Koivula, Mifuko, Eero Aarnio, Teemu Salonen, and Aamu Song and Johan Olin of COMPANY.

“I think we are currently in the midst of a design renaissance, which sees people move more freely between various creative sectors. Many designers also approach their work from an artistic perspective”, says the curator of the exhibition, Tero Kuitunen.

The tour to culminate in an exhibition at Habitare

Habitare will be involved at all the stops on the Wild at Heart exhibition tour.

“It is really great to see the Wild at Heart exhibition project, which was launched on our initiative, featured at the 2020 Habitare event. After first touring the world, through Vienna, Budapest and Stockholm, and all the way to Tokyo, this feels like a homecoming!" says the director the Finnish Institute in Germany, Laura Hirvi.

Next September, the international tour of Wild at Heart will culminate in an exhibition at Habitare, which will be its first showing in Helsinki.

“The Wild at Heart exhibition tour is a great support for the internationalisation of Finnish art and design, providing an excellent opportunity for Habitare to reach international media, as well as local designers and companies. It is also particularly great that the Wild at Heart exhibition will be made available to visitors at next autumn’s Habitare! The exhibition will serve as a glorious celebration of Habitare’s 50th anniversary next year. I’m delighted that the exhibition content is, in many ways, connected to Habitare, as many of the designers featured have collaborated with us”, says the creative director of Habitare, Laura Sarvilinna.

The Finnish partners behind the exhibition tour are the Finnish Embassies and Finnish Cultural Institutes in Germany, Hungary, Japan and Sweden; Business Finland; Visit Finland; Habitare; Lapuan Kankurit; and Bolon.
