Authority decisions delayed – FinnSec, Security, Real Estate and AVITA Audiovisual EXPO planned for beginning of October are rescheduled

The large-scale professional real estate, security and audiovisual  event prepared to be held at Messukeskus Helsinki will be rescheduled from beginning of October to January. The principals of the events and Messukeskus call on the authorities for reasonable preparation time and predictability, as well as proportionate restrictions.

FinnSec 2021, Security 2021, Real Estate 2021 and AVITA AudioVisual EXPO 2021 were to be held at Messukeskus from 6 to 7 October 2021, but the fair will have to be rescheduled. The new date for FinnSec, Real Estate and AVITA AudioVisual EXPO is 12-13 January 2022. Security Fair will publish the new dates as soon as possible.  The reason is the unpredictable regulations of the Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland.

Participating in trade fairs is a long-term engagement and a major investment for companies, both financially and in terms of workload. The organisers of the event believe in meetings and networking and consider trade fairs to be very important. There is only five weeks until the start of the fair, but no definite permission has yet been obtained from authorities to organize the events. The time limit was now met. The cost of attending the fair is beginning to materialize, and marketing should start now at the latest. Uncertainty forced us to move the event forward.

After a long break, the need for encounters is great. The last time, in 2019, 11,600 professionals visited the events. At that time, almost 300 companies participated in the event entity. In addition to the stands, the events had a multitude of quality programme as well as training and networking opportunities.

Messukeskus: “No big events are planned in a few weeks”

The week-by-week changing authorities’ restrictions are poison to producing fairs. Messukeskus has prepared for a full-fledged autumn of events and is fully prepared to carry out the events in a safe manner. At present, however, the regulations made by the Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland allow 25 people to gather indoors until 12 September. At the same time, shopping malls are full of customers.

SAFE Asset Group’s international comparative study shows that visiting a trade fair is safer than visiting a shopping center. In Sweden, shopping centers and exhibition centers are equated and treated according to same regulations.

”COVID-19 vaccination coverage is advancing at a rapid pace in Finland, and we at Messukeskus are fully prepared to introduce a voluntary COVID pass. The well-ventilated halls have wide corridors that allow safe distances. The hygiene of the premises and equipment as well as the safety expertise of the staff have been grinded down to the last detail,” says Maria Mroue, Marketing and Communications Director at Messukeskus. “We now need proportionate and proactive authority decisions. Big events cannot be produced in a few weeks and the current uncertainty is unreasonable”.

The safety arrangements at Messukeskus are first-class and Messukeskus was the first Nordic event facility to receive the Safe Asset Group’s COVID-19 certificate.

FinnSec 2022, Security 2022, Real Estate 2022 and AVITA AudioVisual EXPO 2022 will be held from Wednesday to Thursday 12–13 January 2022. Security Fair will publish the new dates as soon as possible.
