The Augmented Reality project to complete the digital leap of Messukeskus
Messukeskus has introduced a number of digital services for its customers over the course of a year. A dedicated mobile application and a fully revamped online service have been built to enrich touchpoint media. The latest addition is the AR project, which will offer amazing possibilities for broader visibility to the clients of Messukeskus.
In April, Messukeskus released a completely revised corporate website at www.messukeskus.com. The new online service is faster and has a more visual appearance, and also opens smoothly on mobile devices. User-friendliness and browsing have been improved with effective search functions.
The mobile application, launched last autumn, provides direct access to key event information on mobile phones. The application has already been downloaded by nearly 14,000 users. The Messukeskus app shows the exhibiting companies, programmes, maps and services, helping fair-goers to find the most interesting stands and activities. The application is available for iOS and Android devices. For corporate customers, the application, which uses Beacon and Bluetooth technology, makes it possible to send messages and special offers to fair-goers’ phones. Messages can also be used to collect contact information. Messukeskus has also significantly improved data connections on its premises, extending the wireless network to cover all parts of Messukeskus.
Investing in Augmented Reality
Messukeskus Helsinki will be the first congress organiser in Finland to bring AR (Augmented Reality) to its premises. This new technology blurs the line between what is real and what is computer-generated by enhancing what we see, hear and feel. Augmented reality adds graphics to the natural world as it exists changing the way we experience the congress venue. The new AR service will be launched in January, 2017.
“Building top services means not only having a great service attitude, but also working to improve the facilities, programme and digital services. Our new digital services combine real and digital encounters, simultaneously bringing these two rapidly growing media within the grasp of customers”, says Congress Manager Paula Blomster from Messukeskus Helsinki.
Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre, promotes Finnish welfare, by enabling profitable face-to-face meetings in fairs, meetings, congresses and other events. Messukeskus Helsinki hosts approximately 100 exhibitions and 1,500 meetings and congresses each year offering 7 exhibition halls, 40 convertible meeting rooms and the 4,400-seater Amfi Hall auditorium. The Holiday Inn Helsinki hotel operates within the same premises. In 2015, fairs, conventions and other events held at Messukeskus attracted 9,500 exhibitors and 1.3 million visitors.
