First Keynote speakers confirmed to Cyber Security Nordic 2024

Cyber Security Nordic (CSN) gathers top class cyber security speakers worldwide at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre on 29–30 October. The first confirmed keynote speakers are Max Schrems, Noyb.eu, William H. Dutton, Director of the Portulans Institute and Truesec’s founder Marcus Murray.

Max Schrems, a renowned privacy advocate and representative of Noyb– European Center for Digital Rights, will be among the notable speakers also in CSN 24. Schrems gained international recognition for his groundbreaking campaigns against Facebook (Meta), exposing privacy violations, including violations of European privacy laws. Noyb.eu has also recently filed a complaint against OpenAI with the Austrian DPA and is going to challenge the third attempt of EU-US data transfers agreement.

William H. Dutton is the Director of the Portulans Institute, and a Fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) and the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford, where he supports Oxford’s Global Centre for Cyber Security Capacity (GCSCC). He was the founding director of the OII, the first Professor of Internet Studies at Oxford University, and an Emeritus Professor at the University of Southern California. His most recent book is The Fifth Estate: The Power Shift of the Digital Age (OUP 2023). 

Marcus Murray, the founder of Truesec, has also confirmed his speech in Helsinki. He is recognized as a leading presenter at global tech gatherings, where he emphasizes the importance of understanding security risks in our digital world.

More top professional speakers will be announced during the autumn, covering topics on domestic, European, and global discussion subjects from CSN's strategic partners: Cyberday, Fitsec, HP Finland, Microsoft, NetNordic, Nixu, Trend Micro and Vectra.

Cyber Security Nordic 2024: bridging perspectives, exploring critical topics

“Amidst the rapidly evolving cyber landscape, Cyber Security Nordic remains at the forefront of facilitating dynamic discussions and networking opportunities. We are committed to providing a comprehensive exploration of cybersecurity topics from both business and public administration perspectives,” says Anssi Rajala from Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre.

The agenda encompasses a diverse array of critical subjects including European initiatives towards secure and trustworthy digitalization, robust strategies for information security, the evolving landscape of cybercrime and law enforcement efforts, the intersection of democracy and cyber politics, strategies for cyberwarfare defense, and the intricate dynamics of geopolitics and cyber diplomacy.

The event is aimed at cyber security professionals, business management and experts responsible for information security and IT. It will feature four key themes: politics, economy, reality, and the future of cyber security. The Cyber Security Nordic event will be organised for the sixth time at Messukeskus in Helsinki from 29–30 October 2024.
