ChemBio Finland to present chemical and biotechnology solutions for well-being and sustainable growth

ChemBio, a trade fair for the chemical and biotechnology industries, will, in its programme content, highlight sustainable growth, as well as the well-being solutions offered by the chemical and biotechnology industries. ChemBio Finland will be held at Messukeskus in Helsinki from 27 to 28 April 2021.

ChemBio, a unique trade fair for the chemical and biotechnology industries in the Nordic countries, will be held next spring on the theme of Kemian ja Bioteknologian ratkaisuja hyvinvointiin ja kestävään kasvuun (‘Chemical and biotechnology solutions for well-being and sustainable growth’). Issues related to the theme will be featured in the comprehensive exhibition at the event, in the high-quality programme of the Chemistry Days, and in the further education programme in biotechnology for professionals. ChemBio will be organised as a joint effort between the Finnish Chemical Society and the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland.

The 12 different programme categories of Chemistry Days 2021 will focus on important topics in the industry, from food analytical chemistry to green chemistry and the economic use of natural resources. The Hiili hyödyksi ('Making use of carbon') seminar, to be organised in co-operation with the Academy of Finland, will discuss the chemistry of the climate, and carbon capture and utilisation. A security seminar, to be organised with the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland, will focus on, for example, the coronavirus pandemic.

“The contents will highlight, from different perspectives, chemical solutions that promote sustainable development. In addition to an academic and analytical approach, topics of interest will also be discussed from a more practical perspective. Especially today, it is extremely important for the profession what themes are featured at the event. The Chemistry Days, held since 1945, constitute an important event for people in the industry to network with colleagues and take in the top-level educational content available”, says the secretary general of the Finnish Chemical Society, Heleena Karrus.

The biotechnology content offered at the event will address current challenges in the industry, from viral infections to sustainable development.

“The biotechnology seminars will delve into current topics such as viral infections, biobanks, diagnostics, and research on brain diseases. Sustainable development and the circular economy will also be featured as topics in the programme. The seminar programmes will nicely highlight the importance of natural sciences, such as biotechnology, biology and chemistry, in solving global challenges”, says the director of Finnish Bioindustries, Carmela Kantor-Aaltonen.

The entire international chemical industry to come to Messukeskus next April

The upcoming ChemBio Finland will be held concurrently with the Helsinki Chemicals Forum, which will make the event package very attractive internationally for leading professionals in the industry.

“It’s great to have the entire international chemical industry come to Messukeskus at the same time. Holding ChemBio Finland and the Helsinki Chemicals Forum at the same time will offer participants an opportunity to complement their skills in a new way and to network extensively with top professionals in the industry. The concurrently held PulPaper, a leading event in the forest industry, will further increase the cross-sectoral synergy”, says the ChemBio sales group manager, Marcus Bergström.
