Helsinki is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2035. As a responsible company, Messukeskus wants to work for the benefit of its hometown and is committed to reducing its carbon footprint as part of the Climate Partners network of the city of Helsinki and the business community.
We help to choose more responsibly
Messukeskus works actively as part of the City of Helsinki’s Choose More Responsibly network. The service helps travelers in Helsinki find the most responsible destinations from among the content of MyHelsinki.fi. It pushes us forward to become increasingly responsible as an event arena. No act is too small.
Reaching us by public transport
Messukeskus is located in the middle of excellent transport connections, in the heart of Pasila. You can easily reach us from anywhere by train, bus or tram. We have plenty of space for bikes and several city bike stations nearby. In our parking garage, there are charging stations for electric cars and hybrids.
Sustainable Travel Finland company
Visit Finland’s Sustainable Travel Finland programme promotes sustainable tourism. Messukeskus received the first Sustainable Travel Finland recognition in the fall of 2020. The programme brings more tools and a strong partner network to our long-standing responsibility work.
Signatory of the Glasgow Climate Declaration
Messukeskus has signed the Glasgow Declaration for Climate Action in Tourism. With our signature, we commit to make concrete climate action plans and act as an example of sustainable tourism to others.
Certified safety
In the spring of 2021, Messukeskus was the first Nordic event center to receive a COVID 19 certificate in recognition of exemplary work in favor of corona safety. In October 2022, we received the international SHORE certificate for high-quality security and risk management. Both certificates are issued by the international, independent risk assessment specialist SAFE Asset Group
Work and income for the capital region
Economic impact €128 million
Fairs, meetings, congresses and other events significantly promote employment in the entire capital region. The economic impact of Messukeskus on the capital region is 128 million euros per year. The employment effect for the Helsinki region is 1,740 person-years, the increase in sales to hotels and restaurants in the capital region is 33 million euros, and the increase in sales to hotel operations is 24 million euros (Taloustutkimus 6/2023).
100 years of experience
Our company was founded in 1919, more than a hundred years ago. We have solid roots, a lot of experience and an eye on the future. Messukeskus is Finland’s largest event centre and a workplace for 160 people. Our work environment is international and offers many different career paths.
